Question:
What is the HTGT Light-Based Hair Removal System?
HTGT uses the Intense
Pulsed Light (IPL) Hair Removal System. IPL
is a FDA-approved, non-invasive light therapy
device specifically designed to eliminate unwanted
hair from any part of the body. For more information

Question:
Is this LASER hair removal? How is it better?
No. This is not laser
hair removal. Instead, the HTGT Hair Removal
System is a FDA-approved, non-invasive light
therapy device specifically designed to eliminate
unwanted hair from any part of the body. Using
pulsating beams of light, the system reduces
hair in both women and men. Because of the system’s
unique, multiple wavelength spectrum, it’s
the only treatment customized according to an
individual’s skin type, skin color, hair
type and texture. Lasers are unable to allow
for individual customization.
There is no light-based
or laser system that has been FDA approved for
permanent hair removal. The Hair Today Gone
Tomorrow system is approved by the FDA for permanent
hair reduction meaning that although some hair
follicles may be destroyed, others may only
be injured and still produce fine hairs that
will not respond to further treatment. Results
will vary for each person.
Depending on your hair
color and the body part treated, a minimum of
six treatments is recommended each lasting 10-60
minutes depending on the size of the area. Because
hair grows in stages, only hair that is in the
active growth phase can be treated by any existing
system on the market. As dormant hairs become
active during the natural hair growth cycle,
they will require treatment. Most people need
a minimum of 6 treatments for body parts below
the neck and 10 or more treatments for areas
on the face, although individual results vary.
When the pulse of light
reaches the hair follicle, you may feel a mild
pinch similar to the snap of a rubberband. This
sensation disappears in a flash and no local
anesthesia or pain medication is needed.
You may experience some
short-term side effects such as a slight reddening
of the skin or local swelling. These will subside
within a few hours or days and most clients
don’t experience any side effects.
Question:
How does HTGT’s treatment compare with
electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive procedure
that involves inserting a needle into each hair
follicle, then delivering an electrical charge
to destroy them one at a time. It often requires
years of treatments at regular intervals. In
contrast, the HTGT System treats hundreds of
hair follicles simultaneously and non-invasively.
In just a few minutes, the HTGT System can treat
an area that would take an hour with electrolysis
Yes. HTGT removes all
hair with color from all body parts, including
the chin, upper lip, cheeks, legs, arms, underarms
and back, as well as more sensitive areas like
the ears, nose, chest and bikini line, among
others.
Question:
Does the HTGT hair removal system work on dark
skin?
Yes. IPL hair removal
works on light, dark and medium skin tones.
However, each individual’s results will
vary.
Skin can not have an active tan from the sun,
tanning bed or chemical products during the
time of treatment.
IPL and lasers are color-seeking
devices that draw the machine’s energy
down into the hair follicle to stop the blood
flow and thus stop hair growing in the hair
follicles affected. Because white and gray hair
lack color in the strands, there is currently
no energy-based system that can legitimately
treat white or gray hair. Often blonde hair
does have some color in the strand and if treated
properly it will see some results, however darker
hair generally shows better hair removal. Results
will vary for each individual. A free consultation
is provided to all potential clients so the
technologist can look at the hair and give recommendations.
Although naturally dark skin can be treated,
skin with an active tan from the sun, tanning
bed or chemical product cannot be treated. Because
melanin in the skin is activated during a tan,
there is a chance of burning or blistering the
skin when additional energy from the machine
is applied to tan or sun-exposed skin. There
are claims in the energy-based hair removal
industry that tan skin can be treated, but because
melanin is already activated from the sun, the
energy on the machine has to be turned down
significantly in order to not damage the surrounding
tissue. Because the energy is reduced, it can’t
effectively penetrate the hair follicle and
stop blood flow to reduce hair growth. In our
8 years of testing hair removal equipment HTGT
has found that tan skin cannot effectively be
treated to reduce unwanted hair growth. As a
result, during summer months clients with an
active tan can choose to have their program
put on hold until Fall.

Question:
How does the HTGT hair removal system work?
Energy-based hair removal is color-seeking.
The energy from the machine uses the color in
a hair strand as a wick to travel down to the
hair follicle and stop blood flow to that follicle.
Once the blood flow is stopped, the hair follicle
shuts down and no longer produces hair. Sometimes
the hair follicle is only damaged instead of
shutting down completely resulting in a finer,
thinner hair growth while others stop growing
completely. Results will vary for each person.
